Community Centric Design
FLY THE PELICAN

Project Team
The initiative involves a coalition of collectives established by Pelican TRA to retrofit the local community hall. Spearheaded and seamlessly coordinated by the South London Gallery, our joint efforts were pivotal in guiding the project to its successful completion.

As an integral part of the retrofit initiative for the SLG Pelican TRA Hall, we orchestrated a 'Summer Fun Day,' event with the aim of fostering engagement and connection within the local community.

“ Make more public, so people can come and go, somewhere you can feel comfortable. ”
Building on the success of the Summer Fun Day activities, we successfully collected valuable insights and concerns from the public.
The Communities Voice

There was a viability undertaken to consider the option of demolish and rebuild, however together with the client it was agreed to take a retro first approach. We recycled and re-used as much of the existing fabric as possible, and natural materials such as cork and timber were preferred where possible.
